[Case Study] How to shorten delivery lead time from SG to KR

Updated: Aug 3, 2023

The supply chain for clinical trials and biopharma is highly complex, leading to longer delivery lead time and a significant risk of temperature deviations.

s.lab healthcare, a global life science logistics company, has successfully managed numerous international clinical logistics using its specialized cold chain technology. One of their remarkable achievements involves collecting blood samples from various hospitals in Singapore and transporting them directly to a Korean molecular diagnostic bio-company. This enables the early diagnosis of breast cancer from a simple blood test.

Before involving s.lab in this project, the transportation process took 6 days from Singapore to Korea. However, with s.lab's intervention, the delivery lead time has been dramatically reduced to just 2 days. The improvement is attributed to bypassing the Guangzhou hub and processing customs clearance on the same day.

Previously, hospitals were responsible for packing the blood samples themselves. Now, s.lab takes charge of the packaging process by visiting the hospitals equipped with preconditioned cold chain boxes and dry ice for secure transportation. Furthermore, to minimize environmental impact, in-land transportation in both Singapore and Korea is carried out using electric vehicles, reducing carbon emissions.

s.lab healthcare ensures the integrity of the products during transit by utilizing its own temperature monitoring solution, effectively preventing any potential loss of product due to temperature variations.
